Other countries
Is your country missing? Call your local emergency number if a life is in danger. findahelpline.com lists crisis lines in most countries.
If you're worried about someone else
You don't need to know what to say. Asking directly — "are you thinking about taking your life?" — doesn't increase the risk, and being asked is often a relief. Mental Helse Hjelpetelefonen (116 123) also takes calls from family and friends.
When it isn't an emergency, but it's heavy
Comdira has a piece for moments when everything feels like too much without being a crisis — what helps in the moment, and where the line is.
