Why does it work?
Deliberately comparing your values with how you actually live is a core technique in ACT (acceptance and commitment therapy). The idea of measuring the gap between the valued and the lived life underlies the Valued Living Questionnaire (Wilson, Sandoz, Kitchens & Roberts, 2010). A smaller gap is associated in studies with higher wellbeing.
