Most of us do not have one single person for everything. We have different people for different kinds of support, and it is completely normal for the network to be stronger in some places than others.

Why does it work?
That different people give different kinds of support, practical, emotional, social, is the basic idea of the convoy model of social relationships in research (Kahn & Antonucci, 1980). Deliberately mapping gaps in the network, rather than assuming they are not there, is linked to stronger social support over time. The mapping itself is structured reflection, not a validated instrument.
