Why does it work?
Short, recurring pauses between tasks counter the steady loss of attention that builds up during non-stop focused work. Based on research on the “vigilance decrement” and micro-breaks, including Ariga & Lleras (2011), who showed that even very brief mental breaks extend the ability to keep focus.
